NDAJEFESTIVAL2007
June 29 - July 1, 2007

Ndaje (Wolof) means to come together...

Pape N'Diaye, from the National Ballet of Senegal, is bringing the culture
and spirit of Africa to Boston in this fun-filled, three-day celebration.
Complete with a live theatrical performance featuring master musicians and
dancers from Senegal, Guinea, and Mali, this festival will allow
participants to experience traditional West African drum and dance classes
taught by world renowned artists, taste traditional West African cuisine and
indulge in the variety of authentic African clothing, crafts and accessories
brought by festival vendors.

Ndaje: It Takes a Village

Saturday, June 30 - 8pm (Somerville Theatre)

Ndaje: It Takes a Village, is a high-spirited theatrical production that
tells a rites of passage story that is deeply rooted in African tradition.
With artistic direction from Senegalese choreographer Pape N'Diaye, master
artists from the national ballets of Senegal, Guinea and Mali use
traditional songs, lively percussions, the melodic kora, and dynamic dance
moves to portray the life-altering rituals and a village's celebration of
young boys journeying into manhood.

Tickets: $27 Orchestra, $18 Upper Levels($32 /$22 onJune 30)

Ticketsare scheduled to go on sale May 15th. This is a tentative date.

About Artistic Director, Pape N'Diaye:
Pape N'Diaye, from the National Ballet of Senegal, is a master dancer and
choreographer, with extensive training in modern, jazz, and African
contemporary dance. Also a former member of le Compagnie Jant-Bi (Senegal),
he is one of the most celebrated new dance artists in Boston, teaching
weekly sabar and djembe dance classes in Cambridge, MA, and providing
choreography for a number of Boston African and modern/contemporary dance
companies including Kinodance Company, Harvard Pan-African Dance and Music,
