The month of April is the time to celebrate the
Dance & Drum Arts of Haiti.
There are 3 fantastic events in the next three weeks:

1 - 4/13 Action de Grace: Vodou Service at Harvard
2 - 4/21 Kriye Bode 2nd Annual Colliquium on Hatian Dance & Drum in Brooklyn, NY
3 - 4/28 & 29 Jean Appolon's Weekend Intensive Workshop - A fundraising event for the youth of Haiti

1 - Action de Grace: Vodou Service at Harvard Univarsity
Friday April 13, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
with Mambo (Priestess) Maude Evans of Jacmel, Haiti and Mattapan, MA

All are welcome! Envitasyon a tout moun!

The Action de Grace is a service of prayed, sung, drummed, and danced thanksgiving to the Lwa (the spirits of Vodou) for their aid in our lives. It bestows blessing upon those in attendance. 2- Kriye Bode - 2nd Annual Colliquium on Haitian Dance & Drum
Saturday, April 21st
- Mark Morris Dance Center - Brooklyn, NY

In honor of the contributions of Jean Leon Destine, Vivianne Guthier, Gaston Bonga, Yvrose Green, and Edwige DuVerger to the rich tradition of Haitian dance & drum, Peniel Gurrier and Tamboula D'Haiti present Kriye Bode, an intensive workshop on Haitian folkloric dance and culture & performance.

Workshop: 4/21, starts at 10:30am, $70. Includes: 1 - Dance class with Peniel Gurrier 2 - Drum class with Bonga Gaston 3 - A panel discussion on bringing traditional religious, and secular Haitian folkloric dance to the concert stage with distinguished dancers, musicians, and scholars from Haiti and the US.  3 - In the Spirit of Rara, The Festival Dances of Haiti
4th Semi-Annual Weekend Intensive Workshop with Jean Appolon
- A fundraising event for the youth of Haiti*-

Saturday & Sunday, April 28 & 29, 3:00-5:00pm

Come and celebrate the season of Rara in Haitian style! Each workshop includes: discussion / Q&A session and reading materials about featured dances, Rara traditions, and Haitian culture. Dance instruction features: Horton/Dunham warm up, Haitian dance technique, and original choreography. *A portion of the proceeds from this event will go directly to assist disadvantaged youth in Haiti (for questions see contact below).

Geared towards advanced beginner to intermediate level dancers, all are welcome. Live accompaniment by Haitian drum masters: JouJou, Marceil, TiCharles, and other talented artists!
