[Wadabo_updates] Dance and Music from Ghana with Nani Agbeli STARTING THIS WEEKEND!

Reminder - These events start THIS WEEKEND AND GO ALL MONTH LONG & INTO DECEMBER!

ThisWorldMusic is proud to present a series of performances and dance & music workshops with Master Drummer & Dancer, Nani Agbeli, in November in Eastern Massachusetts. Mr. Agbeli, who hails from the Ewe region of Ghana, West Africa, will be in Boston Nov. 15-Dec. 7 as an artist-in-residence at Tufts University.

STARTING THIS WEEKEND, Check out performances and music workshops in Milford and Longmeadow, MA, followed by New England Conservatory and the Boston Symphony Orchestra (for BSO info, click here). For dates, times and locations, you can check out our recently updated 2008-2009 schedule here.

STARTING NEST WEEK, Check out our series of 3 master classes on Ewe (EH-vay) dance from Ghana, taught by world-renowned Ghanaian Master Dancer Nani Agbeli, himself. Come join the party: 

Wednesday Nov. 19, 6:00-7:30pm

Sunday Nov. 23, 12noon-1:30pm

& Wednesday Dec. 3, 6:00-7:30pm

at The Dance Complex in Cambridge, MA.  

Whether you are new to West African dance, or simply looking to tackle a beautiful tradition that is normally hard to find in Boston, Mr. Agbeli's teaching will inspire and challenge all ability levels. Set to live drumming of top area musicians, including Jerry Leake and Jeremy Cohen, this is a major cultural event not to be missed! And then ThisWorldMusic goes to Africa! We will be putting the "World" in ThisWorldMusic with an intensive 3-week drum-and-dance cultural field study to Ghana, a West African nation rich in music and dance. The course, being run through UMass Amherst, is currently slated to take place late July-early August. More details to follow.
