Brown, Harvard, and Yale Universities unite for a diverse and exciting collaborative performance featuring works by acclaimed choreographers Twyla Tharp, Yvonne Rainer, Robert Battle, Trey McIntyre, and Lacina Coulibaly, as well as original student choreography. Don't miss this rare opportunity to see these talented students perform master works of modern and contemporary dance.
The highlight of the offerings from Brown University is Robert Battle's energetic, dynamic, and humorous Rush Hour, set to a percussive score by John Mackey. Brown will also present Michelle Bach-Coulibaly's Road Home, a poignant chronicle of life in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
Yale University presents three dances: Yvonne Rainer's renowned Trio A, Twyla Tharp's intriguing and groundbreaking Torelli, and a new work by contemporary West African choreographer Lacina Coulibaly, who seeks to fuse European contemporary dance techniques with his traditional African dance roots.
Students from Harvard University will perform four works: a world premiere by innovative, engaging choreographer Trey McIntyre, a delightful, humorous return to prom nights by Boston choreographer Brenda Divelbliss, and two works by Harvard students, a powerful spectacle based on the Pygmalion myth, and a playful, rhythmic work set to the music of Tigger Benford.
