[Wadabo_updates] Suite 16 - Show featuring Marianne Harkless, Derrik Davis & more

Dear African Dance & Music Community,
come out this weekend and support
local choreographers working in Diaspora dance arts:

The Dance Complex Faculty Concert - Suite Sixteen - In collaboration with The deVaronistas

Saturday, November 17th at 8pm & Sunday, November 18th at 7pm- To celebrate the 16th anniversary of The Dance Complex, members of the Dance Complex faculty are offering a weekend of premiers. Two of the choreographers have accepted the gentle challenge of world renowned choral director Lorna Cooke deVaron to create dances to a suite of a cappella choral works composed by Eric Whitacre. In addition to performing the Whitacre music, the DeVaronistas will also sing some pieces from the 16th century.

Margot Parsons and Rozann Kraus are working with the songs; text is poetry of e. e. cummings. Anna Myer has created New Duet with music by William Bolcolm. Danny Swain will be offering a suite of dances with his company performing to his own mix of music. And wild and fabulous Derrick Davis will be working improvisationally to a jazz-based score. Diane Arvanites-Noya & Tommy Neblett's Prometheus Dance Company will be performing excerpts from Devil's Wedding, a work originally commissioned by The Yard. There will also be a premier by Marianne Harkless. Tickets are $16, reservations are strongly recommended and can be made starting November 12th at 617.547.9363. This, and every Faculty Concert since 1991, is a fundraiser for The Dance Complex; all artists and support crew donate their time and talent.
