1 - WEEKLY CLASSES:

Yengu Multi-Ethnic Dance Classes with Lynx N'Diaye - No classes in June & Resumes in July...

Mamadou Lynx N'Diaye will be in Africa again for the month of June and part of July. Yengu Workshops will resume in July with further notice. Lynx extends his thanks to the community for its continuing support. 


2 - AFRO-JAZZ REPERTORY SERIES:

A Performance Workshop with Marianne Harkless

This workshop is designed for students who are interested in preparing a dance piece for performance. This is an opportunity to work on one piece of choreography and take is further than is normally done in class.  The entire class will be spent working on choreography. Afro-Jazz incorporates elements of West African, Afro-Brazilian, Caribbean, modern and jazz dance styles. We will work closely with the music to explore different rhythms and how to bring out accents in the movement. Please arrive warmed up and ready to dance. Fee for entire series and performance is $96.00.

Camp Fareta is a week-long residential workshop hosted by Youssouf Koumbassa, a master dancer, choreographer, and teacher from Guinea, West Africa, and featuring many other master dancers and drummers from Guinea, Mali, and Senegal. It is an immersion in West African drum and dance, held at a beautiful setting in the southern Sierras of California in early July.

There are
work-exchange opportunities, plus group rates if you get together a group of eight or more from your area, and you can pay by Paypal. Prices go up after June 23, so now is the time to register.  Check dancingvillage.com/ for all the details, including a registration form and lots of photos from the last two years. The Ndaje Festival 2008 is just weeks away!  This festival is one of the hottest events of the summer! Help to make this event a success by becoming a volunteer.  As a courtesy for your service, you will receive from 1 to 2 free dance workshops, or a free concert, depending on your role.  We are searching for a total of 20 volunteers.  To receive a list of volunteer positions or to secure your position as a volunteer,  contact Dionne Thomas at dthomas@taziainc.com.
