[Wadabo_updates] Seydou is back, Uhuru Afrika Saturday
1) Seydou Coulibaly is back after his annual
learning/teaching/taking-a-group-to-Mali trip to Mali and then
teaching a series of master classes in Japan. As always, his class is
at 7:30 - 9 pm at the Dance Complex (536 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA -
Central Square stop on the Red Line). Class is $12, and drop-ins are
always welcome. Live drumming from the best drummers in town accompany
the class.
2) Uhuru Afrika's monthly dance party amazingness is happening this
busy busy weekend. Come by after seeing some of your friends dance.

On Saturday, November 21, 2009, Boubacar Diabate and his band, SambaLolo (meaning Peace Star), will be headlining an evening of music at Bull McCabe's in Union Square, Somerville. Through the age-old West African tradition of Griot storytelling, Diabate combines traditional rhythms with modern influences to create his own infectious style of music with trips to Jazz, Blues and Reggae. Singing in Mandeng, Bamanan and English, Diabate tells stories of common shared human experiences such as of love, life and humanity. From the first note, Diabate and SambaLolo deliver a mesmerizing and memorable performance. Diabate hails from Bamako in Mali, West Africa and is now a resident of Somerville.
