[Wadabo_updates] Soccer, Dance, Drum, Summer Fun! Be a part [seeking dancers, drummers, vendors, fans!]
A friend of mine is part of the organizing committee of this awesome
soccer/cultural event happening in Lowell this summer. They are looking
for vendors (so if you know some, pass this on), and folks to perform
during the weekend. I'm going to organize a volunteer crew of folks to
go dance/drum so if you want to join me, please get in touch at
erichludwig [at] yahoo dot com. Thanks! We'll drum during games, and
maybe even perform on field at halftime of some games.
If you enjoy sport and community, come on out! The ONE Lowell World Cup
is run by ONE Lowell (a non-profit organization in the city of Lowell
that works to increase the self sufficiency and opportunities of Lowell
immigrant and refugee communities - For more information go to
http://www.onelowell.net)
--formal information follows--
The ONE Lowell World Cup is currently seeking Musicians, Dancers,
Vendors and Volunteers to be a part of OLWC 09' and represent their
country.
The 3rd Annual World Cup will celebrate a shared passion for the game of
soccer while raising money to help immigrants in Lowell. It will feature
excellent teams and exciting games with some of the best players in our
region. The Cup is more than a weekend of fine soccer; it is a
celebration of the contributions immigrants have made to our community.
In addition to the games, the tournament will feature food, music, and
art and crafts from around the world. 16 teams including KENYA, UGANDA,
GHANA, BRAZIL, COLOMBIA, SOMALIA, LIBERIA/NIGERIA, and JAMAICA will
compete to be crowned World Champions.
We would ideally like to see Music, Dance, Food and Arts and Crafts
representing the 5 global areas that we take our teams from.
These are
1. EUROPE
2. CENTRAL/NORTH AMERICA
3. AFRICA
4. ASIA
5. SOUTH AMERICA
